🐾 Some puppy news!
Two pieces of news: firstly, baby storks are visible, heads peaking above the rim of the nests! Great excitement! Our van neighbours are keeping close watch of several of our nearest nests with binoculars and we have been counting how many chicks we can spot per nest. It’s three or four to a nest, mostly.
But, in addition to this, the storks have performed their well known duties by adding to our own brood!
On the 11th April, we found a young Portuguese podengo in a ditch opposite our campsite. He had been dumped from a car that drove off, leaving him in a ditch by the side of the road. We heard his little yelps while we were all outside doing our stretches and tapping with John. After discussion around the site as to who might be able to take this tiny puppy in, and the help of a very kind man, Simon, who lives nearby and who helps out with abandoned animals, we decided to keep him ourselves. Olwen has named him Pip.
He is the cutest little thing! He is very young, far too young to be on his own, and he is very clingy and needs to be held a lot. He has turned our household upside down, but he is undeniably gorgeous, and Olwen has claimed him 💛
Introducing Pip:
Luckily, our van neighbour, Gillian, knows all about dogs and is happy to help us with Pip, because we know next to nothing! He is growing quickly but will not be a large dog – thank goodness!! His breed are rabbit hunters – high-energy, intelligent dogs.
It’s another steep learning curve for these novices…
