🐶 Meet Nelly!

🐶 Meet Nelly!

In more dog news, another gorgeous pup was abandoned outside our site this week. Wouldn’t it break your heart? Do people reckon that someone in the motorhome site will take pity and take them in? Who knows.

Everyone on the site fell in love at first sight with this little pup, but none was in a position to be able to commit to taking her in, so we looked further afield and sent a few messages. And we are delighted to say that there’s a happy ending to this tale too 💚 One of our nephews, who was already thinking of getting a rescue dog, saw her pics on a family WhatsApp thread and has decided to take her.

So she will be travelling to live with him around the middle of June. She is being cared for now by a woman called Alison in Albufeira until she is old enough to travel. We considered, briefly, minding her ourselves in the van but Morgan quickly ruled that out as an option. One puppy in the van stretches him to his limits as it is!

We are arranging all the vaccinations she will need before she can travel and the vet will issue her with a pet passport (lucky Nelly, getting an EU passport!). She also needs to be microchipped before she leaves. In total, it should take five or six weeks, we think, and then she will be ready for the journey to Wales. We have discovered that there are actually a couple of animal transport companies here who relocate abandoned dogs from the Algarve to new homes in the UK and elsewhere in Europe. These people do great work and help find homes for abandoned animals across Europe.

So, here she is – meet Nelly 💛

How anyone could abandon such a tiny and beautiful animal is beyond us 😢

Olwen got stuck into the puppy training with Nelly right away!

Pip’s nose was a bit out of joint, understandably, with the arrival of Nelly. Suddenly he wasn’t the centre of attention anymore. And worse than that, his owners were fussing over another puppy! But the two puppies did have some fun tussles together.  When Pip yapped at Nelly, she showed him in no uncertain terms that she had the measure of him – she pinned him to the ground no bother!
