The move to Guia
5th July 2020: It has become so hot in the van that we have arranged a two month rental in a village in the centre of the Algarve called Guia. So, yesterday we moved into this lovely apartment below to escape the heat. The temperatures are often in the mid-30s here, and early mornings and evenings are much more pleasant, for us at least, than 10am-5pm.
Saul will be returning to fulltime work, online, in a week or so and it makes sense for us to have a cool place to base ourselves during the height of the summer.
We are all looking forward to, depending on which of us you ask, more space, the aircon, the lift, the dishwasher, the automatic shutters, and the pool! No harm to have a break from vanlife for a while, and then we will see what the lay of the land is, and what’s next in store for us…..

Here is Morgan and Olwen’s tour of our apartment:
Our apartment is on the 2nd floor and has gorgeous views of the sunset.
There is a pool with the complex and no doubt we will make good use of that. It’s a drive to any of the beaches, so this village has a mix of local people and tourists both. Guia is famous for being the birthplace of piri-piri chicken! There is even a statue of a chicken in the middle of the roundabout to mark this claim to fame!

Saul has unpacked, and this is what his wardrobe looks like. He has taken minimalist vanlife to heart!
