Saul’s birthday, and houselife in Guia

Saul’s birthday, featuring lemon drizzle cake

July featured more swims and sunsets. To be honest, these bits are by far the highlight of the day. It is so, so hot here that it’s like walking into a furnace when you leave the house, just in case you were thinking we are on one big long holiday here! We’re working and just going about our usual everyday life, and then we get these gorgeous swims in at the end of the day when we are fit for the temperature outdoors! 😄

We went out for a couple of meals in July, enjoying the novelty!

First, of course, we had to try out Ramires restaurant in Guia, home of the first piri piri chicken. This is a large restaurant but seems to serve one main meal only: chicken, chips and salad! Piri piri optional. It was a gorgeous meal.

We had a lovely lunch on our daytrip to Tavira.

This is a traditional Portuguese dish, called Bacalhau à Brás. It is made from salt cod, eggs, potatoes and olives.

Haircuts were the name of the game in July:

And a trip to a fancy hairdressers in Guia, a lovely treat!

We also took the first of several day trips to Slide ‘n’ Splash, about a half an hour’s drive away from Guia, in Estômbar.

The night sky as seem from our balcony; never gets old
