Camping Desimi Beach, Νυδρί/Nydri

The campsite we headed for is located on the east coast of Lefkada, facing out towards Meganisi island. It’s about 22km from Lefkada town in the north to the village of Νυδρί/Nydri
As with our site in Igoumenitsa, our pitch in Desimi Beach was right on the water’s edge. Couldn’t be better. What views to wake up to.
This site is situated in a small, stony cove. Many people have permanent pitches here and spend the summers on the site, with their boats docked nearby. We saw several people prepare their rhibs for the winter, washing all the parts down and towing them up for storage.

That’s the small island of Meganisi we’re looking over towards, and mainland Greece in the far distance. There were a couple of other sites and campsites further down the cove and a small restaurant which served great souvlaki and baked feta.
We stayed for three nights at Desimi Beach; we worked, we slept, we swam… that’s pretty much it!
This site, in October, was charging €25 per night, including EHU. They also sell their own olive oil which is delicious beyond words. We were sorry we hadn’t stocked up because we weren’t long in finishing the bottle we bought!

Moving on
Huge destruction was caused by medicane Ianos across the whole of Greece last month; over €160m worth of damage and the loss of four lives. (A medicane is a Mediterranean hurricane.) So, when we heard that another storm was due to hit the islands of the north west coast in the coming days, we figured it was time to head south. This is earlier than we had hoped to leave Lefkada, but safety comes first.
