Welcome to our new blog

Hi everyone, greetings and welcome to the blog tracking our travels around Europe!

When we left Ireland in a motorhome in November 2019, our vague plan was to travel to Spain to visit the Worldschool Hub in Andalucía, then make our way over to Greece. We wanted to spent a good chunk of time in Greece, in Italy and in France. We didn’t have an end date in mind and nor did we have a definite route mapped out. Just as well we did not have plans set in stone because, as we all know, everything turned on its head in March 2020, which in our case was four months into our adventure. We spent the first lockdown in Portugal and cancelled our plans to pop back to Ireland and the UK in the summer. Instead, when everything was open in September, we made a dash over to Greece with a view to spending a winter there. We hadn’t anticipated that also being under lockdown, but that’s what happened!

At the time of sending out this first link to our new blog, we are preparing to leave Crete, after six months in lockdown, and return to Ireland. This blog has posts detailing our adventures from when we bought the van up as far as our tour around the Peloponnese, last October. We will also be adding current-day posts and we’ll be adding to that in the coming days and weeks, now that we have a handle on what we are doing. But we wanted to share this much with you at this point and hope that you enjoy it.

We’ve had to make this a public blog, but we’re not aiming to share it widely; it’s really just to keep a record for ourselves and to share with our family and friends where we have been and what we have seen. If you see any errors or can make suggestions as to how to adapt or improve it, we’d welcome that! It’s a work in progress. And essentially, that is our motto for life Make it up as you go along!
