Resting a while at Ηγουμενίτσα/Igoumenitsa, NW Greece

We ended up staying three nights at Camping Elena’s Beach, just round the bay from Igoumenitsa port, thanks to a recommendation from our friends, Caroline and Shaun. This peaceful spot was just what we needed to get our batteries recharged and to feel rested and settled after the long journey from Portugal.  The site was still pretty busy, although by no means full, Germans being the most common visitors. We got some good snorkeling in, seeing some coral and coral fish and large shoals of small fish. Olwen also saw a starfish.

We paid €29 per night, including EHU, which was a bit of a shock to the system, after the vastly cheaper prices of Portugal! But we had amazing views to the west of Corfu. And then, to the east, we could see hills behind hills, a typically Greek landscape. Wow.

No rest for the wicked! But what a spot to put in your day’s work.
