Nelly departs Portugal for a new life in Wales

Having finally received all the necessary vaccines, the rabies jab, the microchip and being issued with a Portuguese pet passport, Nelly was now ready to be transported to the UK. This couple below, Janet and Mark, care for dozens of abandoned animals at their home near the Portuguese border with Spain and they also arrange for the rehoming of strays to new homes in the UK and elsewhere in Europe. So, we booked Nelly to travel with them from Portugal, through Spain and France, across the channel tunnel and up through England, where they then deliver their precious cargo to owners in the UK.

We were all able to track Nelly’s journey on an app which was very reassuring, and see photos on Facebook of them having rest breaks. Nelly arrived safely with our nephew in Aberystwyth, two and a half days after leaving us in the Algarve.
