Mikki’s Place to Stay, Pêra

17th – 24th February 2020: Caitríona: The following pics are from an interesting spot we stayed at, not far from Albufeira, for eight days in late February. It came recommended as a site with a difference and it didn’t fail to live up to its reputation.  It is situated outside Pêra, not far from Porches. Set out in the countryside, it lies in the midst of fig groves (are they called groves?!), vineyards, and orange groves. It was set up as a motorhome site by a woman called Mikki whose passion is art and pottery. I loved the vibe of this place, the animals nearby,  the vibrant colours,  the laid back feel of the place. I hope you enjoy the pics below which give a flavour of Mikki’s place 💛

Our van looked out over the fig trees which were just beginning to come into leaf after the winter:

Mikki’s bar:

This little dog belonged to the site and took up residence under the table of our van neighbours opposite. Despite his diminutive size, he was fierce! Note he is missing an eye, apparently following an altercation with another, much larger dog. We called him Vlad, the Destroyer of Worlds:

A slightly less aggressive cricket we helped out of harm’s way

Mikki’s pottery adorned the site and nearby gardens. Here are the pottery birds:

Some of Mikki’s work on display in the gardens; this struck a chord!

And finally, more beautiful sunsets:
