Madrid

Morgan’s day on the trains of Madrid
On Friday 6 December, Daddy and I decided to take a trip on the trains of Madrid.
Our campsite was about a 10-minute walk from Canillejas metro station, which is on line 5 (the light green one).
Here are the things that I enjoyed about the trip:
- The double decker platform at Príncipe Pío station! – the metro line below and the airport train above!
- The little snack we had on the journey – I got water and crisps and Daddy got a coffee at a kiosk
- The trains! – they are electric
Here are the things that I noticed about the Madrid metro:
- It’s very big! (there are 13 lines!)
- There’s a line with only 2 stations! (line R)
- It also goes above ground, and above roads!
- They use overhead lines and pantographs instead of 3rd rails – (a pantograph is the apparatus on top of the train to collect electricity and connect to the overhead lines)
- They also closed the whole of Line 1 because it was so busy that evening, but that made the other lines busy!
