Here are some of our lovely lockdown friends who have headed off from the site during the month of May.
The first to leave were Gillian and Steve with their gorgeous dog Sacha. They moved from our site to the Falésia site to get access to the beach. They had invested in SUP boards and were itching to try them out!Ann and Mick from Yorkshire; they left to see a bit more of Portugal, before heading back to England as they have a house to renovate – busy people! Their next port of call is Norway for the longest night, next summer.Henk, from the Netherlands, with his vintage Hymer Henk was our next door neighbour during lockdown and a man with every tool you could possibly need, and answers to all questions regarding vanlife. Henk lives fulltime in his van and he left Silves to see the west coast of Portugal, before heading home. Gert and Chérie from Amsterdam. They headed back home but it wasn’t long before they were back off out on the road again!Mary and Peter, Mary from Donegal originally and Peter from Liverpool, but they have lived for many years in Essex. They returned to the UK in the middle of May, suffering the trauma of a lost windscreen wiper along the way and a fire that broke out in their fridge as they were driving! We were glad to hear that they had made it home in one piece.Johnny and Sandra. This lovely couple, from the east end of London but long time residents of Essex, are best friends and travel buddies of Mary and Peter. This is a very poignant pic for us to look back on now, as Johnny died a couple of months after their return to the UK. RIP dear, kind Johnny Michael and Doreen, from England originally, have lived for many years in Germany. They live permanently in their van now with their two dogs, having sold their house after retiring. Morgan was very envious of their motorized step! And this is Sian, who runs the site. She was invaluable to all of us campers, keeping us up to date and safe throughout the lockdown. It would have been a much more frightening and unnerving experience for us all had she not been keeping us informed and even liaising with the police with regards to our safety and permission for us to remain in Portugal!
